Whilst working a full-time job as a data analyst, Jessica opens her first “store” in her home’s single garage. With the help of advertising, clients start booking her and the store very quickly moves to the double garage. Jessica would see her brides after work, on weekends and between teaching music on Sundays. Showcased at her first ASB Showground Bridal show.

Jessica finds an 80 square meter retail store in Kingsland with 2 changing rooms and a kitchen that doubled as an alterations area. With 4 staff the store becomes very well established for 6 years. Jessica showcases at the Bride and Groom Bridal show.

Moved from Kingsland to 255 Newmarket with 4 changing rooms but there was the issue of no space for alterations. After 2 – 3 years Jessica leased the space next door which was turned into an alterations area.

The business was rapidly expanding, and Jessica began thinking about finding a new place to set up for her dream retail and alterations flagship store. During this time she also travelled to Melbourne for the Bridal Trade Shows and was involved in her first NZ Fashion Week.

Jessica found a bigger retail store that would cater to the alterations department also – the store was right across the hall in 255 Newmarket. After months of renovations, the Jessica Couture flagship store had its grand opening in May 2018. The store features a large alterations area, 5 changing rooms and enough space to showcase over 400 dresses

With business booming, Jessica decides to expand and offer the world her designs by starting up a wholesale department. Jessica Couture now has stockists in 7 countries including Australia, USA, UK and New Zealand.
